Meet Shaun:
Shaun McInnish is a dedicated advocate for political transparency, accountability, and individual rights in Mississippi. A longtime resident of Pelahatchie, he has spent years following state and local politics, using his voice to expose corruption, promote ethical governance, and fight for the rights of everyday Mississippians. Whether through investigative writing, grassroots activism, or public service, Shaun is committed to making a difference in his community and beyond.
Currently, Shaun is running for Pelahatchie Ward 1 Alderman, bringing his passion for fair representation and responsible leadership to the local level. His political journey is rooted in his deep concern for government accountability, particularly in writing about scandals like the Mississippi TANF welfare fraud case, which he has extensively researched and written about in his upcoming book. He also helped found the Rankin County Libertarian Party, aiming to expand the state and national Libertarian movement while supporting inclusive, pro-liberty candidates.
Beyond politics, Shaun has spent over two decades in the plumbing industry, working hands-on in communities across Mississippi. However, his true calling is writing and advocacy, leading him to transition into political journalism. As a writer for a local newspaper, he covers local government meetings, ensuring residents stay informed about the decisions that shape their town.
Shaun is also a devoted husband and father. He and his wife, Christina, have been married for 20 years and are raising their four children in Pelahatchie. In his free time, he volunteers as a youth soccer coach, helps set up game-day events, and enjoys time with his two lazy pugs, Sophie and Wilson. He is currently finishing his bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Cybersecurity and plans to pursue a master’s in Political Science at Jackson State University to further his mission of advocating for Mississippi’s future.
